Obituary of Catherine Theresa Luciani

Catherine (Kay) Theresa Luciani, 85, of Tucson died peacefully on February 16, 2024, at Peppi’s House Hospice surrounded by her family. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on January 30, 1939, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Mary Protti Pierangeli, she attended St. Johns School in South Scranton. She was a member of Saint Joseph’s Parish in Tucson.

Kay was a homemaker, an elementary school volunteer, and worked as a records clerk at a local automotive company. She placed her family above everything and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very social person and befriended everyone she met. Kay will always be remembered for her incredibly generous nature. She was always there to help anyone in need. Kay enjoyed playing bingo (she was always a lucky winner) and telling stories over coffee with lots of cream and sugar with her favorite blueberry muffins.

Catherine is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Luciani. Catherine and Joseph were married on September 3rd, 1960 at St. John the Evangelist Church, South Scranton. Kay was a loving mother to Laura (Jerry) Barton, David Luciani, and John (Laura) Luciani. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Lisa Barton, Andrea Hovel, Nicole Barton, Anthony Luciani, and Dominick Luciani, and five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jenna, Maci, Nyssa, and Oakley. Catherine was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Pierangeli and Joseph Pierangeli, and four sisters, Ann 'Tootsie' Polentz, Theresa Kadlubowski, Rosalie Kujawski, and Lousie Lunario.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and physicians at Tucson Medical Center and Peppi’s House Inpatient Unit for the exceptional care they provided to Catherine. The family will conduct a private memorial to celebrate Kay’s life. If you wish to provide a fond memory of Kay, please add it to the Memories area.
